Definition: Focus one’s mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting, for religious or spiritual purposes or as a method of relaxation.
Meditation is a powerful tool. It opens up doors in the mind that helps us access the conscious and subconscious parts of our beings, we are able to watch our thoughts, and understand our learned behaviour/thought habits. By watching such thoughts patterns repeating in our mind, we can begin to understand them, reflect and even change our behaviour/ outlook on life.
Meditation techniques can not only break thought patterns and habits, but also add the body in relaxation, which in term can aid the body to heal.
Pranayama is breathing exercises which clear the physical and emotional obstacles in our body to free the breath and so the flow of prana - life energy. Regular and sustained practice of Pranayama can supercharge your whole body.

So how can you turn on that relaxation response so the body can heal itself? One of the simplest and most effective is meditation! Meditation has been scientifically proven to activate the relaxation response, and as a result, almost every health condition improves. In his research at Harvard, Herbert Benson demonstrated that meditation is effective in treating angina pectoris, cardiac arrhythmias, allergic skin reactions, anxiety, mild to moderate depression, bronchial asthma, herpes simplex, cough, constipation, diabetes mellitus, duodenal ulcers, dizziness, fatigue, hypertension, infertility, insomnia, nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, nervousness, postoperative swelling, premenstrual syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, side effects of cancer, side effects of AIDS, and all forms of pain – backaches, headaches, abdominal pain, muscle pain, joint aches, postoperative pain, neck, arm, and leg pain. (Most likely it helps many conditions not listed here, but Dr. Benson just hasn’t gotten around to studying them yet!)
In December 2012, I had my first experience of Meditation, using a technique of one pointed focus.
In those next 12 months I dedicated an hour a day to meditation, as well as my yoga study and some energy healing, the combined processes for me, changed my life, changed my outlook to a degree I could not have expected.
Other Meditation techniques such as heart meditation & breath-focused meditation are extremely helpful, and can be explored in this group setting as well.
This workshop is a support group introducing you to the different techniques to meditation, giving you the opportunity to try these techniques to find which one suits you best.
The workshop is constructed of a long 20 Minutes and short meditation15 minute and a chance for participate feedback and discussion. The length of the meditation time may be extended as the course/participates develop in their chosen technique
